Stock car racing began on the beach in 1939. Drivers raced modified stock cars on a circuit that utilized both the Atlantic shoreline and the pavement of State Road A1A, the legendary oceanfront road. This continued until 1958. In 1959 the famed Daytona Beach International Speedway was opened. This 11"x14" double matted print displays stock cars turning the corner off of the beach heading onto State Road A1A, with spectators behind watching the excitement.
